Pearl Millet / Bajra
(Pennisetum glaucum)
It is the sixth most important cereal crop in the world, providing food and nutrition to millions of people, especially in , Africa, and parts of Asia. The crop is extremely resilient to drought and heat, making it an ideal crop for regions with low rainfall and high temperatures. Research is also underway to develop improved varieties of Pearl Millet that are more productive, disease-resistant, and nutritionally enhanced.
Our Millet / Bajra is certified under NPOP, NOP, and FFL for all the above-mentioned uses. Further, Millet / Bajra is certifiable as organic under COR and EU standards whenever it is clearly and exclusively used in the food industry in products for human consumption.
This includes the development of hybrids that have higher yields and better grain quality, as well as biofortified varieties that are rich in iron, zinc, and other micronutrients. Pearl Millet is a valuable crop that has played an important role in the diets and livelihoods of people in many parts of the world for thousands of years.
Its resilience, versatility, and nutritional value make it a crop that is well-suited to address some of the major challenges facing agriculture today, including climate change, water scarcity, and food insecurity.
